Casting
To Redfish
Casting
to redfish requires presenting your fly within a close
proximity to the fish due to his small range of vision.
You must cast close enough to the fish so that he sees
your fly but not so close that you spook him. Chances
are, he won't like it if you bang a Clouser of his head!
A good rule of thumb is to lead the fish by ten feet
so that you may strip the fly to intersect his path.
If
you happen upon a tailing redfish, you should cast the
fly within two feet in front of him. If the redfish
stops tailing, you might need to simply twitch the fly
to get his attention.
The
lure of flats fishing is that no two situations are
ever the same. The myriad of possibilities drives you
to fish by instinct. Try to react naturally to each
situation rather than overanalyzing every technique.
Nothing in nature can be outlined in one simple formula
that works in every given condition.
